What I wanted to give you by writing "The Visual Marketing Revolution"

Now that my book "The Visual Marketing Revolution" has launched, I am reflecting on what I hoped to deliver.  I'm also listening to a lot of feedback (and look forward to hearing yours as well.)

I have been working online for almost 20 years, starting at AOL in 1994.  I have used mind maps for almost that long and have always worked visually.  The thing that attracted me to AOL was the visual interface that helped people at all skill levels enjoy an online experience. Working with online companies over the years has given me the greatest appreciation about what holds companies back.

What I wanted to do with this book was give you every idea, method and tactic I knew of to help you get value from visual thinking. The book contains ideas for using visuals to help you, your staff and colleagues and your customers benefit. 

I hope you'll let me know if you have any thoughts about how I can continue to add to your appreciation of the value of using visuals for thinking and marketing.

Book Review: "The Zen of Social Media Marketing" by Shama Hyder

Shama Hyder's new book, "The Zen of Social Media Marketing" was recently released and I wanted to make sure I alerted you to its value. (Full disclosure, I'm quoted in it.)

As you know, lots of books dealing with the topic of social media have been published.  I think Shama's book is worth your time because she does what I believe are the most important things an author should do:

1. She walks the talk: If you look at her own business, you see that she does what she says will work, and it does.

2. She makes it easy to understand: Shama isn't interested in going into complex theories. She tells you what you need to know.

3. She takes a holistic view: I like when an author gives you the big picture and the details so you see how everything fits together

4. She doesn't promise overnight success: Social media takes time and she helps you understand that.
